Tai Chi for Longevity

Dates: Aug 23-28, 2026
Instructors: Kiara Vicini
Fee: $375.00 + meals and accommodations fees
Term: Summer 2026

Workshop Description

Tai Chi is an internal martial art developed in ancient China. It is based on the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine and follows the law of nature with many benefits for our mental and physical health. In this course we’ll focus on Tai Chi inner principles using a basic Sun style Tai Chi set, suitable for beginners and advanced students alike, to discover key elements of health and well-being. Incorporating these inner principles in the way we move, both in Tai Chi practice and daily activities, facilitates a well-balanced alignment and strengthens the core musculature in harmony with the natural environment: gravity’s fall and the earth’s support and response.

CLOTHING

The weather in the Sierra Nevada can vary greatly, even in a single day. Be prepared for chilly temperatures at night, even below freezing early in the summer. Rain is a possibility any time, whether forecast or not. Variable weather clothing that can be layered is best: long pants and a long-sleeved shirt, warm sweater and jacket, t-shirt and shorts or skirt, sturdy shoes or hiking boots, sun hat, rain gear, and a warm hat or gloves for cold weather and/or night activities. And, if you come later in the season, bring your swimsuit for afternoon dips in the lakes!
